A new ministore will be opened in Seattle's University Village by Luxury jeweler Tiffany & Co. On Sept. 4.The Village store is the second of a new type of Tiffany store that's smaller and less formal. Jewelry will not be locked away in cases but displayed out in the open so customers can freely try on different necklaces, bracelets, brooches and rings with the help of a jewelry stylist. The stylists will guide customers in mixing and matching contemporary jewelry designs to create their own looks. For example, a customer may want to layer three or four necklaces in silver and gold to wear with a special bracelet or pin.Tiffany jewelry will be "very tuned into the current trends in fashion that you see on runways or in Hollywood," said spokeswoman Terri Tiffany. Designers include Paloma Picasso, Elsa Peretti, Jean Schlumberger and Frank Gehry, among others Tiffany earrings.Sales have been strong at the first ministore Tiffany opened last October in Glendale, Calif., Terri Tiffany said. The 2,100-square-foot U Village Tiffany's will be the third Tiffany's in the Seattle area. The jeweler also has a 5,500-square-foot store at Bellevue Square and a 7,900-square-foot store in Pacific Place in downtown Seattle.
